Vintage Poster Gift...

I'm so excited with the gift my man gave me! I have only seen those images in slide shows in a couple art history classes and then he walks in our home with one... This piece was created over a 100 years ago and is one of their most popular ones out of the series, and to our luck Chris won it in a liquor seminar he went to.
It was like it was supposed to be ours! Now we just need to find a special spot on the wall so we can admire it :)
Once again , thank you my love!

Os Gemeos

I am doing a research for a class presentation tonight. I had to chose any international artist I liked, while there are countless names I appreciate, I decided to present on the Brazilian Identical twins graffiti artists,Os Gemeos.  They create social and political oriented work and also use some of the national folklore and other Brazilian cultural influences in their pieces.
Personal, lively and colorful... A very nice representation of my lovely nation Brazil.

What The Bleep Was Today...

It is a necessity to vent about my day... I have spent over 12 hours working on illustrations on Photoshop and Illustrator and trying to figure out a way to place them on After Effects after (I had a good bottle of red while doing it though). I need to confess that tears were shed through out the course. The drama is that I need to develop a 60 second music video as my quarter project and need to have 50% of the project done by Wednesday. I have no idea if I will make it but I'm still up and will be for other several hours...that's just my personality, I can't drop it. Good or bad? I don't know.
I started illustrating some owls as characters that will briefly appear in my story. I think they are cute, hopefully I will be able to make them move a little bit.

Now back to work...
Later!!!

On the Darker Side of Things

Today I'm highly inspired by photographs. One of my artists of choice in particular is the contemporary digital photographer from England, Dominic Rouse. He creates black and white composite images that evoke suspense in a variety of surrealistic and macabre scenarios. These photos will capture your eyes and surely take your breath away.

Scary:)

A stunning set of underwater images taken by photographer Nadia Moro.
The series is called Under the Surface.
I can almost hear the music by looking at those photos... Dreamy!

Uma belissima serie de fotografias tiradas embaixo d'gua pela fotografa Nadia Moro
A serie se chama Abaixo da Superficie.
Eu quase posso ouvir a music somente em olhar estas fotos... um sonho!

Imagem & Poesia...

On the Beach at Night Alone

On the beach at night alone,
As the old mother sways her to and fro singing her husky song,
As I watch the bright stars shining, I think a thought of the clef of the universes and of the future.
A vast similitude interlocks all,
All spheres, grown, ungrown, small, large, suns, moons, planets,
All distances of place however wide,
All distances of time, all inanimate forms,
All souls, all living bodies though they be ever so different, or in different worlds,
All gaseous, watery, vegetable, mineral processes, the fishes, the brutes,
All nations, colors, barbarisms, civilizations, languages,
All identities that have existed or may exist on this globe, or any globe,
All lives and deaths, all of the past, present, future,
This vast similitude spans them, and always has spann’d,
And shall forever span them and compactly hold and enclose them.

Note Taking

Frequent times when I'm in class listening to lectures I enjoy letting my hand and mind flow together and sketching happens... it feels very therapeutic to draw without any concept. Often times, silly things come out to life on the pages, and other times I wish I had thought of doing them on a white page where  they could be developed further. But some drawings are meant to just be there on the striped paper, imperfect...unfinished and in their own way serving their function. A stepping stone of possibilities for other projects.
For no definite reason I enjoy drawing eyes. I connect with them. To me, the eyes are unable to hide anything; they reveal it all.
So I draw them.
